All six colors (Desert Sand, Ochre Buff, Copperstone, Terra Cotta, Walnut, Moroccan Brown) are mixed evenly together on the walls immediately adjacent to the monotone, light brown brick of the historic structure. This uniform blend creates a pleasing a visual transition between old and new, leading into the show-stopping, layered ombre fade of the new wing’s corner focal point. Major kudos goes to the #bricklaying wizardry of Vimak Construction, who brought this ambitious vision to life! Six unique blend percentages of Interstate Brick had to mixed onsite by the masons for this effect to be realized. Custom lipped brick was made by the factory as well for use around the building’s windows and doorways.
The next time you’re driving through Chicago’s Northwest Side, be sure to pay this project a visit — it’s even better in person!
