The new owner of this two-story Wicker Park building wanted a fresh look for the exterior facade of his property, fit for the upscale dining & shopping destination it’s located in along north Damen Avenue. Wanting to pay homage to the old-world brick craftsmanship used on its neighboring buildings, while simultaneously crafting a distinct, modern aesthetic, the client turned to architect Door Thirteen and Bricks Inc for help.
To satisfy the client’s desires, we recommended ultra long-format waterstruck brick from Italian manufacturer Fornace S.Anselmo… little did we know, the building owner happened to be the son of two Italian parents! The choice of “Corso” brick in color “CT001 VTB” ultimately proved to be the perfect tribute to family roots, high-quality brick, and modern architecture.
Additionally, we provided new, larger windows from Jeld-Wen‘s “Epic Vue” series for the second-floor residence, complete with special corner brick pieces in the window surrounds fabricated by our friends at Brick Tech Architectural in Detroit. The storefront below is now the proud home of Triangle Square Condos‘ sleek sales gallery.
