This single family house on the border of Lakeview and Lincoln Park is surrounded by an eye-catching assortment of architectural styles. From brightly painted Victorian frame cottages, to greystone-clad three-flats, to brick residences both modern and traditional… the developers at BAK Home Development knew this property would have to hold its own amongst such sophisticated neighbors!
Cool gray was the first color considered for the masonry façade — a timeless choice that has both historic precedent and contemporary appeal. To enhance the design’s streamlined geometry, we offered up several long format sizes of popular neutrals. Like many developments, cost-effectiveness was also important, so it was imperative that larger, matching bricks also be available for the home’s less-prominent, alley-facing sides and garage.
Our sales staff immediately turned to Interstate Brick, whose wide range of sizes and colors were perfect for this job. On the front elevation, 2.25″ x 12″ norman-size brick in the “Platinum” color creates subtle horizontality, neatly transitioning to economical 4″x12″ utility-size at the rear of the building. Best of all, both sizes were in stock at the plant! Masons are always happy when they can get material quickly, and these arrived two short weeks after the order was placed.
