Happy Camper’s Wrigleyville location is a multistory bar and restaurant prominently located along Clark Street’s nightlife strip. Utilizing five large-scale systems from LaCantina Doors, the lines between indoor & outdoor space are thoroughly blurred at this camping-themed pizzeria.
On the ground floor, the street-facing patio can be integrated into the main dining area thanks to two sets of bifolding doors — each measuring over 22 feet wide! Towards the rear of the property, the intimate courtyard space features ample greenery and dappled sunlight. A super-cool “Zero Post” configuration allows the L-shaped walls of this cozy area to fold away & out of sight.
Up on the second floor, a smaller set of folding doors connects the secondary bar station to the rooftop deck. Wrapping around the first-floor patio like a balcony, guests enjoying the top floor are treated to a bird’s eye view of the lively streetscape and the patrons dining below.
This being Chicago and all, it’s inevitable that winter will strike again. That’s why each door system pictured here uses thermally-controlled glass to keep the cold out. Short of building your establishment in Florida, this is the best year-round, outdoor-infused space you could ask for!
