Replacing windows on a historic building can be quite challenging —but even more so if the structure in question sits adjacent to the CTA! For the renovation and restoration of this contributing property, we supplied new fire-rated windows by Fyre-Tec, as well as in kind, Landmark-approved replacements from Sierra Pacific for the Damen-facing fenestration.
The installation proved to be especially tricky, with limits as to the work that could be done due to the proximity of the project to the Damen Avenue blue line station. No work could be performed during Rush Hour periods (5-9am and 3-7pm), and ongoing processes had to pause every time a train was within the construction limits! Our friends at Meyer Guild did an exceptional job despite the unusual working conditions, and today, this project is one of our favorites to visit… donuts anyone?
