This awesome S.Anselmo-clad fireplace was crafted by Vara Design, and features “Corso” long-format brick in a soft grey color known as CT002VTB. Close collaboration with Tom Bassett-Dilley Architects led to a cohesive, contemporary design both inside and out — eagle eyes will notice that the exterior masonry is a different texture of the same color. While the minimalist, sleek living room uses smooth, sleek bricks, the outdoor side has a rusticated appearance perfect for the home’s forested property in Wheaton, Illinois. It’s always a treat to see the soft mud, molded offerings of S. Anselmo on display… we can’t get enough of that creased & crinkled handmade look.
Although changing the look of your home interior can be daunting, brick veneer can make the transformation far more painless and much less invasive. There were loads of clever upgrades to this 1960s house during the renovation pictured here, including a comprehensive energy efficiency retrofit! Thanks to some new triple-glazed windows, the heat from this beautiful focal point hearth stays indoors, right where it belongs.
